Why Every Minute Matters
During a stroke, part of the brain is not receiving normal blood flow or is being damaged by bleeding.
The longer treatment is delayed, the greater the risk of permanent brain damage.
Some treatments for ischemic stroke are only appropriate within limited time windows, while selected patients may be eligible for procedures that physically remove a clot.
This is why waiting to see whether symptoms improve can be dangerous.
