Kevin was born by Caesarean section on April 8, 1983, at Community Memorial Hospital in New Jersey. Contemporary reporting from UPI recorded his weight at 16 pounds 6 ounces and his length at 25 inches. He was also 16 days overdue.
His size was so unusual that he couldn’t comfortably fit into the hospital’s standard bassinet. Nurses placed him in a crib instead.
